But, two issues: (1) Existing users will still influence the system with their antiquated popular apps (2) If a new app becomes popular, existing app leaders can copy-cat and leverage their existing large audiences to distribute faster. Monopolies really win in the Facebook Apps world, and this reason alone provides grounds for slower app development. I was asked a good question from my friend Simon:
